Cling film is a thin plastic sheet (typically 2 µm to 0.5 mm thick) used for wrapping or covering food.

It is produced in continuous rolls, which are later cut into suitable pieces.

Plastic wrap is commonly used to cover products, as well as doughs, sponges, or mixtures, to prevent skin formation. Covering items with plastic wrap also helps them stay fresh longer when refrigerated or frozen.

Alternatively, a damp tea towel can be used to cover doughs during the proofing process.
